Why do some of our clients not want a PERS device and what can we do to bridge the stigmas and misinformation?

People used to think they didn’t need seat belts…

Long Term Care Services Providers serve over 8.3 million people in the United States

Millions of Americans with functional impairments today rely on personal assistance and other long-term services and supports (LTSS) in their home to perform daily activities, to maintain their quality of living and, when possible, their independence. The goal of all LTSS plans are to facilitate optimal living functions. PERS is a critical part of this process. Alert Medical Alarms provides enterprise level solutions that help make the lives of Case Managers and zvtheir members easier. Clients need wandering solutions, social isolation fixes, proactive help with falls, and many other interventions that come with some pitfalls of aging. Together we give back freedom and independence to those who need it most. As people age, they become more susceptible to disease and disability, however much of the burden of ill health among older people can be reduced or prevented by incorporating PERS as a part of your members LTSS plan.

Here is a BIG hurdle..Some of our clients do not want a PERS device!

If your member is reluctant to PERS, we've narrowed down the TOP 8 objections and have provided you the ultimate follow up answers.

1. Already Have a cell phone

Client Objection: I already have a cell phone. Why should I get a separate one for just emergency calls?

SC Response: Cell phones do not provide emergency contact and home address information during an SOS call. When you press the button, everything from where you’re located and which emergency contacts to call is in play. If you cannot speak, we know who to call and what to do. Besides, if you need it and you’re wearing it, you do not have to go digging for it!

2. They do not want to look old!

Client Objection: Those are for Old People!

SC Response: Of course, When we were little we wanted to be big. Now we are big, we want to be young. The button can be discrete! AMA provides belt clips and wristbands for their devices. At the end of the day, better safe than sorry!

3. They do not want anything around their neck / skin sensitivity

Client Objection: l cannot wear stuff around my neck. I hate to have anything dangle from it.

SC Response: AMA provides wrist and belt buckle devices that are great solutions for anyone who doesn’t want anything around their neck.

4. No WiFi or internet

Client Objection: I do not have internet… it won’t work!

SC Response: It works where you are. Home, store or seashore. You hit the button, and you get help!

5. I am not ready for it, I am still active

Client Objection: I am still too active.

SC Response: Trips, slips, and falls are very common. Even more serious outside, during the wintertime, the smallest of mishaps can be extremely dangerous if not responded to quickly. These buttons break the backyard barrier.

6. Afraid of false alarms

Client Objection: I do not want a bunch of folks coming because I hit the button by accident.

SC Response: False alarms are rare. If they happen you just tell the operator everything is ok. If for some reason EMS shows up, YOU WILL NOT be charged.

7. Do not want to charge it/ maintain it

Client Objection: I do not want to charge that thing.

SC Response: We can just get you one of those in home devices. They work inside and don’t have to be charged!
